A lot of people do not take TikTok seriously. TikTok is the real deal when it comes to making money online. In this article I introduce you to the concept of making money off TikTok.
In my previous blogs I talk about how building a big Instagram page can make you a fortune. Building online real estate that gives you free, targeted traffic to your offers is worth the effort. Instagram has a lot of competition, that is why I say it takes about six months to a year to build a big Instagram page.
TikTok is still new on the scene, this means that there is less competition. What the low level of competition means for you is that your page grows much faster. TikTok works differently to Instagram, as a result, it requires less work for you to grow your page. On TikTok, you do not need to do follow for follow like on Instagram. I talk about some of these issues as we go on in the Tik Tok series.
Yes, you are thinking of the fact that Trump tried to ban TIkTok. Well, right now he is busy with elections so I guess we are safe for now.
Reasons You Should Be On TikTok
TikTok has been installed on more than 175 million phones in the United States alone. The application has over one billion users. If you want to sell products to people between 18-40 years of age, then TikTok is something worth considering. The idea is to build powerful pages for yourself, like I talk about in previous articles.
- Monthly Active Users – TikTok has about 850 million monthly active users. In November of 2018, TikTok reported that the number was 680 million monthly active users. We estimate that it’s increased to 850 million as of now (September 2020).
- Total App Downloads – The TikTok app has been downloaded over 2 billion times worldwide, as reported by Sensor Tower 0n April 29, 2020. In Q1 of 2020, the app had 315 million downloads, which is the best quarter by any app, ever. 500 million of those come from India, 180 million from China, and 130 million from the U.S. In June of 2020 TikTok was downloaded 87 million times worldwide (with 7.5 million of those coming from the U.S.).
- Monthly Active Users in the United States – In an official lawsuit filed by TikTok against the United States government on August 25, 2020, TikTok announced that they have 100 million active users in the U.S.
- Among U.S. over 18, TikTok brought in 22.2 million mobile unique visitors in January, 23.2 million in February and 28.8 million in March. In April, that number jumped to 39.2 million—three times the 12.6 million who used the app last April, according to the most recent Comscore data provided to Adweek (note – Comscore only tracks users over 18).
- The percentage of U.S.-based TikTok users by age: 10-19 – 32.5%, 20-29 – 29.5%, 30-39 – 16.4%, 40-49 – 13.9%, 50+ – 7.1%. This means that the TikTok userbase is aging up (so get on it now!). All data via Comscore.
- Average Minutes Per User – TikTok users love the app. They spend an average of 52 minutes per day in the platform. A new study has shown younger people ages four to fifteen spend an average of 80 minutes per day on the app.
- Opens – A user opens the TikTok app 8 times per day.
- Creation – 83% of TikTok users have posted a video.
- U.S. Audience – As we mentioned, we estimate that TikTok has about 80 million monthly active users in the United States. 60% are female, 40% are male. 60% are between the ages of 16-24. 26% are between the ages 25-44. 80% are between the ages 16-34. This data comes straight from TikTok.
- Gen Z – 60% of TikTok users are Gen Zers. Gen Zers are trendsetters. Next year, 74 million people in the U.S. will be part of “Gen Z”, which will make it the largest generation of all.
- Revenue – TikTok is estimated to pull in $500 Million in revenue from the U.S. alone in 2020 (source).
- Countries – TikTok is now available in 154 countries worldwide (and 75 different languages).
- TikTok Vs. The Facebook Empire – Facebook’s “Lasso” (it’s TikTok clone), has 250,000 downloads in the U.S. since last November. TikTok has 41.3 Million in that timeframe.
- $500 – the amount TikTok is reportedly paying influencers to join the app and start creating content. It’s working well though. The platform is growing like crazy.
- According to Sensor Tower, TikTok was the second most downloaded app in the U.S. in November with 4 million downloads (trailing only Disney+).
- According to TechCrunch/Apptopia, TikTok’s Q4 2019 revenue grew over 300% from the same period a year earlier.
- Douyin, aka TikTok in mainland China, just hit 400 million daily active users there (and the most active dance video creators are over 60 years old!).
- A top trending song is typically a top trending song Spotify, as well. Illustrates the true influence of the platform.
- The TikTok Creator Marketplace is a platform run by TikTok that houses thousands of profiles of TikTok creators. Brands can search the marketplace for creators whose audiences best fit the target market of their campaign.
- TikTok had 104 million downloads just last month (an increase of 46% from the year ago period).
- Engagement – it’s hard to quantify this. But the engagement on TikTok is incredible. Case in point: Jennifer Lopez recently posted the same video on Twitter and TikTok. She has 45 million followers on Twitter and 5 million followers on TikTok. The video on Twitter got 2 million views (off 45 million followers). The video on TikTok got 71 million views (off 5 million followers). So start using TikTok now! They recently started nightly programming which is undoubtedly training Gen Z to tune in at certain times a la appointment TV viewing of days past. Engagement has increased dramatically over the past few months. The New York Times reports that TikTok usage has been skyrocketing since Coronavirus began.
- TikTok has recently created a $1 Billion Creator Fund. This money will be paid by TikTok directly to its creators in an effort to further solidify its relationships with influencers. TikTok has many competitors, large and small (Facebook’s Reels, YouTube’s Shorts, former Vine creator’s Byte, and Triller, among others). This fund should prove to be very effective for the platform.
- Forbes put out a report on the highest-earning TikTok stars. Addison Rae comes in at number one making $5 Million, Charli D’Amelio is number two at $4 Million, and her sister Dixie is number three at $2.9 Million.

As you can see, there is real money to be made on TikTok. Do not let another trend pass you buy, it is still the right time to get on TikTok, and grow your audience. you can the make money off TikTok when your page has grown big enough.
The Difference Between TikTok & Instagram For eCommerce
Instagram has an advantage over TikTok when it comes to eCommerce. In addition to having swipe up features that take you to eCommerce websites, you have links in the bio that you can use to send people to various offers.
Instagram has more mature users, with more users in their thirties. TikTok users are mostly teenagers although the user base is maturing. The problem with having children as the main users is that it is harder to sell them things, as they do not have credit cards.
As a result, we are going to talk about different ways of making money off TikTok. Different ways to the eCommerce approach that is prevalent on Instagram.
First Off, Transfer Your TikTok Followers
Big Youtubers like Logan Paul started off on Vine. The next step people like Logan took, was to transfer their followers to more profitable websites like YouTube.
There are two main reasons why you should do this:
1) TikTok does not offer as many opportunities for people who are not influencers. The way I am going to teach you to grow your TikTok, will not result in you being an influencer. Transfering your followers to platforms like YouTube where you can monetize your videos, is a good move
2) There is no guarantee that TikTok is going to be there forever. As successful as TikTok is, we do not know what the future holds. Trump has already tried to ban it, who knows what else will come up.
Get Niche Based Followers & Sell Them Products
Getting followers on TikTok is easy. You do not need to use the Follow for Follow Strategy like I taught you in my articles on how to grow your Instagram.
On TikTok you get followers when you post good content. You know we are not about to start creating our own content right?
You use the Repost application to get videos from Instagram and repost them to TikTok.
TikTok is still new such that they do not conduct cross-platform verification of content.
You can post content from Instagram onto TikTok without the need to give credit like you have to do on Instagram.
You go to Reels on Instagram and search for content with the highest engagement. Copy the link off the video and open in Repost. Act as if you want to post it on Instagram and abort the activity as soon as the video is saved in your phone’s gallery.
The next step is uploading the video on TikTok.
TikTok is about hashtags, so use country specific hashtags first as TikTok shows videos to your countrymen first. Mix that with international type of hashtags to help your video go viral.
Good engagement in a video comes with followers.
Once you have a big follower base, you then leverage the followers by selling advertisements on your page or promoting your own eCommerce products on the page.
These are legitimate businesses that take time to build unlike those scams that you see on Warrior Plus
Make TikTok Compilation Videos And Upload Them On YouTube
TikTok compilation videos has been the in thing for a while now.
All you have to do is go on TikTok and find out which videos are doing well.
Use hashtags to find similar videos and create a compilation.
Upload the videos onto YouTube and start growing your following and views.
When your page has reached the minimum required number of views and followers, you monetize the channel.
Monetizing the channel means you get paid for advertisements that YouTube runs on your channel.
Take a look at the first video in the image above. 765 million views off a four-minute video.
That video took the uploader less than a day to make and yet it provided life-changing income.
The question is, what is an estimate of the money made on this video.
Entertainment videos pay around around $1.50 per 1000 views. So we divide 765 million views by 1000 and we get 765 000. We multiply the 765 000 by the $1.50 per 1000 views and get gross revenue of $1 147 000. Just like that, a short video puts a person on a whole new level in life.
Use TikTok Influencers To Sell Your Products
The first thing you have to know about TikTok influencers, is that anyone can become an influencer at any given point in time.
Some have more staying power than others, but what it means is that you have a larger pool to choose from.
Economics tells us that the higher the supply of a commodity, the lower the price.
TikTok offers you the opportunity to get major returns from influencers, for much less than on bigger websites like Instagram.
You search for influencers by entering a hashtag on the Discover and search for pages getting good engagement relative to their followers.
The same way that I showed you on the Instagram tutorials.
Another avenue is to search for well known TikTokers, but this leads to higher costs.
